Gayle Thomas

A Closer Look at Gayle Thomas

I am married to a bivocational pastor who supports himself as a professor
of Public Health, and have 2 sons, currently in double digits but not yet
driving. This limits most of our family's movie viewing to the PG-13
options. I work as a physician in Family Medicine at a Community Health
Center, a clinic for low-income patients. Most of my patients come from
Latin America, meaning that I have ample opportunity to practice my Spanish
and experience first-hand the inadequacies of our health care system. I
suffer an inexplicable attraction to Rowling's Harry Potter series and a
slightly more understandable fascination with Tolkien's Lord of the Rings books.
The single most interesting thing about me is that I was born in the
Democratic Republic of Congo to missionary parents (circa Poisonwood Bible
but minus the negative missionary stereotypes) and would like very much to
return there for a visit. Although unsuccessful to date in achieving that
goal, I am privileged to take periodic trips to Kenya with our church.
